Slept in until 6:30am.  Thanks to drag racers up & down Dunbar last night, it was still short of an 8-hour sleep:(

Hurried through my morning work, said farewell to Sunghee as she headed to set, then walked Kaelin to school.  An overcast Vancouver morning and cool.  Walked to CrossFit for my WOD.

100 Squats
100 Sit Ups
100 Push Ups
100 Pull Ups
100 Push Ups
100 Squats

No really strategic approach to this one.  Just a whole lot of reps to get through.  No way it won’t be painful.  Reminded me of fighting my friend Jan 4x Canadian heavyweight Judo champion and 1993 World Championships competitor.  Standing 6’9″ and weighing in at 240# he would take on The Touch & I plus one or two other guys at the same time like we were kindergarten kids.  So when I had to fight him solo (almost every night of training) there was no way I was not going to take a beating.  In those days my strategy was since it was just going to end up hurting anyways I might as well come out all guns blazing and see how much damage I can inflict before getting crushed.

So that’s how I approached this WOD.  Blasted through my first 50 squats and maintained a respectable pace through the last 50.  I don’t have fast sit ups but they are steady so I ploughed through as best I could.  Push ups 20-10 then sets of 5 at a time.  I was happy with my speed through the first sets.

The pull ups are always my slowest part.  A set of 10 then sets of 5’s always with the butterfly kip.  Actually the first 50 were not great but as I got tired my kip became more efficient and better resembled a classic butterfly kip though still a little too elliptical.  Nevertheless, happy with my progress.  94 butterfly, 6 regular kip at the end when I was too tired.

2nd round of push ups I did 10 then sets of 5 that remained fairly quick until I faltered a bit at rep 88 requiring a brief break.  The sit ups & squats however were like a man struggling through molasses.  I completed them unbroken but had no sprint left in me.  Finished at 39:23 feeling I had put in a solid performance.

A trembly walk home on weak legs.  Set to work not letting up until it was time to pick up Kaelin.  He had a lot of homework so I worked also.  Did take a break to watch a Penny Dreadful episode and Game of Thrones with Kaelin.

Sunghee returned home from set and we got ready for bed.  Slept quickly enough until a mosquito in my ear woke me.  Tried to sleep again but soon it was buzzing about again.  It bit both Sunghee & I before I flattened it.  But now I was wide awake.  Well past 11pm before I could sleep.  Yesterday night drag racers, tonight a mosquito:(
