What are your holiday traditions?

As we close in on the end of the year, I know many are looking forward to the new year and new beginnings. I find myself excited as well but I also feel melancholy. This is my second Christmas/Holiday season without my mother in the house. She has Alzheimer’s and now lives in a home. They call it the long goodbye. After my last visit to see her, my father and I were driving home, we were talking about Christmas traditions. He doesn’t remember much as he was often working. My mother, the pillar of the family, had us baking, doing crafts and other holiday events. We visited our grandparents and other relatives, but Christmas Eve was our favorite time. She would put on holiday music (the Carpenters were her favorite) and we would put icing on the cutout cookies and set them out for Santa. A few times she would even let us open a gift up early that night. I celebrate my mom this Christmas and though I have different traditions with my kids, I remember my own fondly and the amazing woman she was.  Wishing you all a very happy holiday season!

See you at the gym!

This Thursday we are taking on “Chaos” with Thrusters and Bar Facing Burpees in a fast paced 7 min AMRAP.  After warmup and tech we will break into heats having a partner to help you count your reps and rounds. The goal is to have reps unbroken and sustain your speed as best you can. It’s an excellent test workout out heading into the open next year.
