Our CanWest competitors are getting nervous as the event draws near.  July 15, 16 & 17th is now less than a month away and they are getting that jittery feeling in their belly when they anticipate its arrival.

Most people dread that feeling!  It reminds them of the risk of failure.  But actually, the flutter of butterfly wings in your belly is the signal that your body is releasing adrenaline and preparing itself for peak performance.  If you don’t feel those butterflies you should be nervous because you are not ready to perform at your best!

Physiologically, fear and excitement are the same.  The only difference is how you interpret those physiological signals.  If you interpret your butterflies as warning of imminent danger and risk of failure, you may feel overwhelmed and undone by them.  If, on the other hand, you interpret them as anticipation for the event about to transpire, then you will experience a rush of excitement like you might experience on a fun ride or a hot date.  In these cases your nervous energy is desirable.

The way to harness those butterflies and allow their wings to give you flight is to welcome them in.  Don’t be alarmed or overwhelmed by them.  Greet them as the signal that you are ready to perform at your best.  They are there to give you that extra boost you need.

Remember: the butterflies are here to help you be your best!  They are your superpower.  Love them.  Welcome them.  Let them help you fly.
