Back in my teen years I was always kind of jealous of my brothers who used to play hockey together with my dad on Monday nights. I thought, that is so cool. Time together doing something they love. Unable to complete that with my parents, I made sure I could do it with my kids. I have done lots of lifting with my kiddos over the years but I think my favorite activity was a relay run that is held every year in August in Portland called the Hood 2 Coast.  You have 2 vans of 6 for a total of 12 runners. Over a period of 5 years I have ran with both my sons numerous times. as well as with my cousin and good friends. After 36 hours in the same vehicle and no showers you become like family!!

I decided to start the Family Fit class because I think doing fitness together with your family is really great. It creates memories, can introduce fitness patterns and games in a safe environment and everyone can get an endorphin fix! Families leave happy together. Seeking Part-Time Empower Youth Coaches

The Empower Youth Fitness and Development Program is seeking coaches so that we can continue to grow our offering to members and the local community. The role of the Empower Youth Coach is to guide, coach and mentor young athletes ages 8-17 through unique and structured workouts in a group class, small team or individual setting.

Thursday Workout

This Thursday you will be taking on the squat clean thruster. Though not heavy and with the volume low, you will want to try to cycle the bar and complete the sets unbroken. Only light rainfall in the forecast tomorrow, plan to bring your running shoes and modify to a rower or bike as needed.

9 squat clean thrusters
