Slept in until 6am (-2pts) then up to do laundry, dishes, blog, photos, etc.  A lot to get done these days!  A bit of breakfast and then we walked Kaelin to school.  From there I headed to the gym talking business on the phone with Big Boss (-2pts).

Snatch 1-1-1
Clean & Jerk 1-1-1

After the warm up you get only 3 attempts at each lift.  You must call your weight first and once called you can never reduce weight on bar.  My snatch going horribly.  Maybe it was the competitive format or maybe my head was just not in it.  Missed 145# four times in the warm up before giving up and just loading the bar to 155#.  No problem.  It would be my last good snatch.

Started at 165# and got the lift but failed to get a full squat.  The lift still counts but I was disappointed by the poor form.  Next up 175#.  It got uglier this time.  I have been fairly consistent with 185# so I went for that last but did not even get under the bar.  Had to take 175# as my top snatch.

Warmed up the clean & jerk.  Felt good in warm up but a bit weaker than expected.  Decided to start at a modest 205#  And missed the squat power cleaning the bar.  What happened?  Just recently I squat cleaned 260# with great form and now my body won’t get under the bar!   225# was next.  Another power clean.  I was so disheartened.  245# is a weight I can clean & jerk quite consistently.  In fact, I haven’t missed a lift at that weight in the past year or two.  Until today that is.  So I topped out at 225#  for an Olympic Lifting Total of 400# (-2pts).

I wouldn’t even be upset with the sub par loads if my technique was clean on the successful lifts but it sucked.  Looked like I had never lifted before.  Days like today are why we celebrate the good days.

Walked home along Dunbar (-2pts) stopping in to Stong’s.  An overcast Vancouver day.

Back home lots of work to do.  Then went to pick up Kaelin (-2pts) the sun had come out.  Grocery shopping at IGA.  We watched Game of Thrones before he did homework & I did more work.  Cooked some dinner.

Made for an early bedtime.  Not as sleepy as yesterday.
