Well, the worldwide CrossFit leaderboards have settled down a bit and the cureentl;y published results should not change much between now and next week when emails will be sent out to athletes in the top 10% of their respective division to participate in the quarterfinals.   Will any empower athletes get the call?

Before we look at our team results let me extend apologies to Snamdan and Menace whose scores were misprinted in our previous blog.  Sandman scored 142 in 21.3 and Menace scored 175lbs on the barbell complex.  Sorry guys, it was an honest mistype and not intended to downplay your fantastic athletic performances!  Apologies to any other athletes whose scores might be misrepresented here.

Here are Empower athletes who placed in the top 100 in their division in Canada:

Perennial Empower contender Mr. Fantastic on one good leg still managed to claim 29th place.
Motor also overcame recent knee surgery to sneak into contention with the rank of 100 in her division.
With her usual quiet lack of fanfare HeeHee took 92nd
Almost as quiet in her performance except for my week one shout out was Shine who placed 97th giving us 3 women in the 50-54 division in the top 100!
Hard Rock who hadn’t planned to participate and only registered to compete at the very last minute took 56th.
Sandman had a solid 85th place finish happily burying WOD Father who trailed far behind at 97th.
Gymkata crushed the equipment free challenges to claim 7th place nation-wide!
Sydney in her very first Open appearance claimed 97th.
And Multi-Sport only needed to complete 1 workout in order to take 4th place in the junior teen’s division.

The real win was having a fun event to unite us as a community and distract us from the world troubles that have had us down through 2020 and 2021.  Congratulations to all Empower athletes who took on the 2021 Open.  Regardless of ranking or result you scored a moral victory by participating and having fun!

Thanks for giving us something to cheer for.  Final request for Spirit of the Open nominations!
