Five years ago my mom made the decision to change her life.

She signed up for CrossFit in 2015 to begin a healthier lifestyle. CrossFit has also introduced her to a community of diverse athletes. It’s not just a gym for hardcore athletes but it’s for people that want to change for the better and to be surrounded with positivity.

It has shown her that whatever you do, you will find people with the same interests and intentions.  Dauntless is the nickname the gym has given my mom. It means fearless and determined which describes my mom in the best way possible.

My mom is my greatest role model and inspiration. She has shown me how to push through and successfully persevere even when faced with fear and pressure. This was especially important to me when my mom joined the gym and I saw how audacious she was at CrossFit.  She was willing to go to the workouts and try even when she felt she wasn’t good enough.

My mom has come so far and is willing to go further. She still goes every single day and keeps on improving herself.  She has always stayed very positive about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and lives by example.

CrossFit is such a big part of our lives, and my mom continues to challenge herself to unbelievable limits. CrossFit has been an inspirational journey for both her and I.

Wednesday WOD
2 of my very favourite movements combined.  Lyla is a delight!  I was heartbroken to have my workout interrupted 58 minutes in by a scheduled coaches’ meeting.  I was only 20 minutes away from finishing too!  If you scale this appropriately you may finish within the class time, otherwise we may be forced to time cap you in the midst of your fun.  I went through all the stages of grieving when I realized I would not be able to finish: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally, acceptance.  Some days are just like that.
