This Thursday Testament is brought to us by the beloved Molly Gunn who started at CrossFit Empower in July 2020 via a series of Personal Training Sessions with Coach Corey. She can most often be found in the gym at 6pm and on Saturday mornings.   She has been working hard on her lifting at these times and recently scored personal bests on her Shoulder Press and Deadlift.  Nice work Molly Gunn!  So glad you came through the Empower doors last summer!

What brought you to CrossFit?

I was a runner previous to CrossFit and due to COVID-19 all races were canceled.  I was finding it difficult to train by myself with no races or goals to work towards. A member I knew suggested I try CrossFit Empower and so I did!

What was your first impression?  How has it changed?

My first impression (of CrossFit) was that it was very tough. I still feel it is, but that’s why I enjoy it so much. It is always different and challenging. I love the group class format and look forward to it coming back when COVID restrictions ease.  The coaches are so supportive and the overall experience of CrossFit has been great.  I think it is a fantastic way to improve your overall health and well-being.

What was your first bright spot (win/positive experience)?

When I first back squatted 100lbs I was pretty impressed with myself!

What are you working on now?

My CrossFit goals for this year are to work on my handstand and to do a 30 inch box jump.

What’s your favourite Empower memory so far?

Working out with no masks!!
