Are you feeling run down?  Just a little bit blah?  You’re not alone.  After a couple months of short days with reduced sunlight, your batteries are running low.  Add in a splash of cold temperatures and your body suddenly wants a break.

Of course, you just got back from a break.  But deprived of vitamin D, shivering in the cold, your body’s inflammatory processes are cranked up to full power and your mood and energy are waning.  At least that’s how I feel.

Your aches will be more frequent, your motivation will wane, lethargy sets in.  It’s not you, it's the February flu!  No wonder most New Year’s resolutions are out the window by the first week of February.

But do not despair, already the days are growing longer.  And a West Coast winter rarely lasts very long. All you need to do is make it through a few more weeks of dark, cold days and before you know it, spring will be creeping up with longer days and warmer weather.  And yes, probably a healthy dose of sunshine too!

The best remedy I can suggest is to stay calm and soldier on.  Do not give up on yourself now, winter is nearly over.  We will get through it together!
