Empower is officially a HYROX training club
Yes, you may have already heard that Empower is Vancouver’s newest HYROX training club, with several of the Empower team coaches doing their HYROX certification.
On September 19th, we will host a mini HYROX event for members and guests, for everyone who is HYROX-curious.
The next official HYROX event in Vancouver is coming up in December.

HYROX training classes
As of June, Empower will test-launch its first official HYROX class(es).
To start, these will be held on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, starting next week, June 3.
These will be free to CrossFit Group Class members (sign up in Zen Planner as usual). These classes are also available as a stand-alone HYROX-only membership in 5-class or 10-class cards for anyone else who'd like to join in.
If it's popular, we will keep it on the schedule, so come out and show your support.
Original Strength classes
Coach HeeHee recently re-certified as an Original Strength instructor and wants to bring her expertise to you.
We will test a once-per-week Original Strength class free to CrossFit Group Class members and also available as a stand-alone Original Strength-only membership.
These will run during Saturday's 11:00 am open gyms. Starts June 13 for members and July for non-members.
If it's popular, we will keep it on the schedule, so come out and show your support.
CAP programming
Empower is switching to the new and improved CrossFit Affiliate Programming, starting June 1.
How is it different from our current programming? CAP is programmed for one-hour gym sessions for real human beings. This means no more swim workouts, no more workouts that require three barbells per person, workouts designed to be finished inside the hour, and a lot fewer superhuman Rx’s.
The CAP programming provides our Empower team coaches with comprehensive plans that include workout-appropriate warm-ups, technical coaching recommendations and scaling options, as well as emphasizing the intended stimulus and time domain for each workout.
The main difference members will notice is that CAP provides 7 days of programming, eliminating make-up days.
For members who still like to come in to do their own thing, we will continue to offer open gyms Saturdays at 9 and 11am, Sundays at 9am, and we will test run a new open gym time Wednesdays at 6pm.
Nothing is ever carved in stone, but we feel that after an adjustment period (after all, who likes change?), you will find this new programming better supports your fitness goals.
