Staying on the Journey

Thought of the day

Family Fitness

When you take that first step on a journey your heart is always filled with excitement. This is going to be the day that you make real changes to your life and step closer to the person that you have always wanted to be. It will be hard but you know that every journey begins with one step. When you are about ten steps in, work starts to get busy, it is rainy out, and things at home get overwhelming. Suddenly that excitement to your Journey comes to a crossroads. Will you stay committed or give up now that the excitement and newness of the journey is done?

Fitness

It is a gift and curse that we cannot see the challenges that lie ahead.  If we knew every set back or break down we most likely would never start or try to make any significant changes. The fact that we don’t know what life has in store also leads us to taking this next step lightly and thinking our excitement will stay through thick and thin. Excitement may get you started but commitment and tackling break downs realistically is what is going to allow you to stay on course.  Sit down right now and writing down some of the things that might stop you from training consistently in the next three months.  What will your steps be when these things come up to keep you on track?

Longevity

In the next few months the holiday season will be in full swing. There will be family events, work Christmas parties, and maybe even a few extra holiday drinks. In spite of all these obstacles what is your plan to stay on track and keep your commitments alive? If you need some assistance reach out to your Empower coach. We are here to help you stay on track and make a workable plan for your fitness through the holidays and all other life events. You just need to show up and we will do the rest to keep your fitness moving forward.

When your fitness journey begins it is easy to be excited about all the cool things you learn to do and the progress you are making. With this in mind we have to remember that fitness does not happen in a vacuum. Other things in your life will pull you in different direction and have the potential to get you off course. Your commitment to keep signing up and showing up will help you stay on the journey to that future self, you can see on the horizon. When starting something new enjoy the excitement but also remember that your commitment to keep showing up, even when it gets hard, will be what moves you forward. In your life consider some of the things that have stopped you before. And now create a plan that can help you when those things come up. You do not need to be perfect but you need to keep yourself on track. If you are struggling reach out to your coach we are here to help you through the difficult times.
