The Hard Now, Easy Later Mindset: Reclaiming Your Fitness Journey
"Everything that is now easy for you was once hard in the beginning." – Robin S. Sharma
Thought of the Day

Cut yourself a little slack—challenging yourself and stepping into a new arena is hard. You may have neglected your training and fitness as you took on other ventures, and now coming back feels even harder. Sometimes, when we take the easy route in life, the challenges from those decisions set in later. Sitting on the couch, missing training to hang out with your buddies, or having that one (or five) extra beers at dinner feels easy in the moment. But in the long run, small decisions like these will make it harder when your alarm goes off, and it’s time to get back into training. These micro-decisions seem insignificant at the time, but most of where you are with your fitness, family, and in other important areas are built on these seemingly minor choices.
At Empower, we are here to help you make those positive little fitness decisions and keep you on track to where you want to be. It starts with showing up. Once you sign up for a personal training session or one of our group classes, your coach will be expecting you. Show up to what you committed to, and we’ll take care of the rest. We want you to feel empowered and ready to take on all the challenges that arise in and out of the gym. To do that, you need to keep showing up. If you're struggling, reach out—we can help create a sustainable plan for you. Among Vancouver fitness studios, we have something really special: a great team and amazing people all working on getting better. Bring good energy, and remember—you’re choosing the hard path now so you can live with ease in the areas of health and fitness later.
Stepping back into an old arena is also hard. Maybe you took some time off or have procrastinated on the things that work. It’s easy to forget the little habits that breed success and focus instead on the flashy things. The challenge when getting back at it is being okay and present with your current ability. Things may not come as easily as they did when you were in your twenties, but that’s okay. It will be even sweeter when you reach new heights and learn skills you didn’t know you had the capacity for. Sometimes in life, we take the easy path for a little while, which often creates difficult times later. This can happen in fitness, with family, or in other important areas. Regardless of where you are, it’s not too late to get back on track.
