Winning Starts Within: Take Charge of Your Attitude and Effort

“If you wish to control others, you must first control yourself.” – Miyamoto Musashi

Thought of the Day

Many times in life, we spend too much time and energy on things outside our control. Instead of focusing on our next move or what we can change, we get caught up in distractions—whether it’s a tariff war or that one annoying coworker you wish was easier to deal with. But dwelling on what you can’t influence only stops you from taking charge of what you can impact.

When you step into the gym, you don’t control the workout or the challenging movements in it—except on makeup day when you choose your own adventure. But you can control your attitude and effort. Whether the session goes well, poorly, or somewhere in between, every workout is an opportunity to grow. Right now, training multiple sports has left me feeling a little run-down. But when I step onto the mats or under the barbell, I remind myself that training isn’t about winning or losing—it’s about learning and moving forward. If you take control of what’s within your power, you’re one step closer to mastering yourself.

We can’t control everything in life. So spend less time worrying about what’s out of your hands and focus on what you can change. Your attitude and effort are two things you have full control over. How will you show up today to better master yourself and move closer to your goals?
