Fait accompli: Intramural Competition Results

Before we crown our 2024 Intramural Champions, let’s get to the business of which team won the Dance Off, our final Intramural challenge. Team performances were simply outstanding! Thank you so much for rising to this challenge. When all was said and done though, one team took the prize.

And the win goes to … Age Against the Machine with 3 out of our 4 teams casting a vote in their favour!

Age Against the Machine, who performed last, won teams’ hearts with their creative and lively Grease Lightening rendition which The Touch led with John Travolta flair. It was a standout performance. Watch it here. Congratulations Age Against the Machine!

Coming back from behind.

It was clear when last week’s Challenge points were tabulated, that Age Against the Machine was out of the running. Even if they had won the dance-off and each team member earned 3 gold division points, it would not have garnered them enough points to take the win. Would they opt out of the Dance Off? It takes a lot of chutzpah to pull off a public dance routine after all. Regretted not making the Dance-Off worth more points. But, there was no need for worry. Age Against the Machine was unphased by their status and hit their final week as strong as ever. Team members got after 24.3 with great vigor and they put on a fantastic show embodying the phrase, “It is not whether you win or lose but how you play the game that counts.” True Empower spirit!

The crown goes to … Chalk Dirty To Me. See Leaderboard at the end of this post for details. In summary though, they took the win by 105 points! They got off to a slow start, but I think that lit a fire in them as they got after it fiercely thereafter and did not look back. Their aptly placed chalked covered hands were hilarious. Nice work team! You looked great and performed amazingly! High five!

The official crowning of our 2024 Intramural Team Champions will take place at Empower’s Annual Gala on April 13, 2024. There will be lots of other matters to celebrate then too! Stay tuned for more details.

Excellent work seeing this year’s Open through Empower! Be proud. Keep pushing. Keep training.
