Helping your Youth Athlete Start a New Fitness Program!
Starting a fitness program in January can be a great way to encourage children to adopt healthy habits that can last a lifetime. The new year provides a natural opportunity to set goals, create positive routines, and help kids build a love for physical activity. Before the kids get back into that busy school routine next week, have you selected a fitness program for them to be a part of?
To get kids started on the right foot, Empower Youth begins by making fitness fun and engaging. If the kids enjoy the activity, they’re more likely to stick with it. We feel that it’s important to set achievable goals, especially for younger children. Instead of focusing solely on performance, emphasize consistency and effort. For example, we offer classes 2x/week for both our Varsity and Junior Varsity programs. This can fit nicely into the calendar but not too much to cause overscheduling or overtraining. We ask our athletes to bring good energy and work hard when they are here. Successes happen seamlessly!
In addition to our programs, encourage your child to incorporate fitness into their daily routine. Be a role model by prioritizing your own fitness and do fitness activities together.
