Physical Freedom
“Freedom is a muscle… you have to exercise it.” – Roy Scheider
Thought of the day
Training equals freedom. The freedom to keep up with your friends and family, do more of what you enjoy, and not feeling trapped in your body. At the end of the day we all want to be physically capable to do more of the fun things that we enjoy. This can be as simple as throwing the football with your kids or as complex as an eight day hiking adventure. Regardless of what physical freedom looks like to you training is your path to get there.
We have all know that person trapped in their body. Not physically capable of doing the things they want to do. This is not a great spot to be. While injuries, setbacks, and life will happen training will help you bounce back. It is not about feeling motivated but is about being committed to your own personal fitness journey that matters. Even when dealing with a setback you just need to keep showing up and doing the things that are working for your body day to day.
Having a conversation with one of my Jiu Jitus training partners today he asked me about adding in strength training to his routine and what I thought about that idea. I was very honest with him and said I would not be able to grapple if it was not for my CrossFit training. The gym is where I rehab and prehab my body, get in shape, and it is what keeps me on the mats and having fun. The gym is not about winning or losing, because it is training, but is about getting general physical preparedness so we are capable in any other physical arena. The gym is here to give you the freedom in all the other areas of your life physically. We want you to continue doing more of the things you love and not feeling restricted by your physical capacity.
We do hard and constantly varied things in the gym. So you are able to tackle any challenge in your life. Don’t lose sight of the purpose. Sometimes the workouts will be hard like yesterdays Tommy V, but this challenge will set you up for success with the rest of your day. Most of what you do will not be as hard as your workout in the gym. Today’s workout will offer a different challenge with the rowing machine. After some of the tough sessions we have had I really appreciated the cardio challenge. If you are feeling stuck and would like to find a personal approach to your training reach out to us. We are here to help you tailor your training. And even offer effective personal training session that can help you get on track.
We are here to help you create a sustainable fitness practice that will help you continue doing more of what you love. Your training at empower should be setting you up for success with all the fun stuff you have going on outside of the gym. We want you to be able to do the things that matter to you most. If you feel like you are falling behind and need a personal approach let us know. We are here to help and guide you to success. Training equals Freedom. The freedom to keep up with your friends and family, do more of what you enjoy, and not feeling trapped in your body.
