October Youth Personal Bests

This month in Varsity we tackled the heavy 1 rep deadlift. It is not a lift I do very often but staying safe with mechanics we had 4 athletes make huge gains. Havoc jumped 30#’s to a 255 Deadlift. Chief went up 20#’s, Spiderman gained 15#’s and Digits leapt 50#’s on his deadlift. How come 50#’s? Due to poor mechanics he was not allowed to move any amount of heavy weight. Digits worked incredibly hard in class and he has had extra PT to develop a strong core and movement patterns so that this PR became achievable. It was an awesome day!

We also had athletes do bar hangs longer than ever, first time rope climbs and Toes 2 Bar. Many athletes have moved up in their box jump heights as well. They don’t always see the little changes but with our team of coaches we try to make sure the kids know those little successes are important too!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

See you at the gym!

Thursday’s Halloween Workout

Today’s workout is the classic CrossFit benchmark “Nancy”.  Don’t be spooked and don’t ghost it! If you have done Nancy before this is a great time to look back at your previous score to see how to tackle it this time. Pick a weight for your overhead squats that you can do unbroken and find a good and perhaps a little faster pace for the run. The best part of Thursday workout is you can apply the extra challenge of a costume! Prizes will be handed out to the best dressed!

Nancy

5 rounds for time of:
400-meter run
15 overhead squats

♀ 65 lb
♂ 95 lb
